Whether or not this is learned or came naturally is difficult to say, but likely not important.
Finally, while he HAS a trainer... He doesn't appear to be aware of this fact. It's like his human "companion" might as well not even exist. What man in a monochrome suit? He doesn't see or hear anyone. Whether or not this is a conscious choice to pretend the human is entirely silent and invisible or a result of Max's own questionable sanity is a mystery all its own. But one, as you can imagine, that's exceptionally frustrating to a certain someone.]
