The First Kiss Meme

First Kiss Meme

one. It's your first date, and you're dropping them off at the door. Are they going to lean in? Should you..?

two. You have been friends since forever. Everyone knows you like each other, but the moment quite hasn't arisen for the first kiss. Until now.

three. Awkward first kisses! Maybe you just bumped noses, or you kissed their chin instead. Time for attempt number two!

four. Maybe this is your very first kiss, or maybe it's theirs! Either way, one of you is experienced and the other isn't. What if it turns out really bad?! (But hey, maybe you're a natural.)

five. The accidental kiss. Might have tripped over your own feet, or maybe you've collided and they landed on top of you. Either way, your lips are locked- Where you go from there is up to you.

six. UST kisses. There's been some sort of tension between you for a while. Maybe you fight all the time, maybe you're in love with each other and you keep getting interrupted before anything happens. Either way, that tension needs to end now!

seven. Either pick one, mesh some together, re-roll, or create your own!

Clementine | The Walking Dead

neededlassie: (You know...)

13 and growing up in Wellington?

[personal profile] neededlassie 2014-10-22 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[There were plenty of kids in Wellington, sure, but most of them were either teenagers or really little. There weren't many other kid-kids, especially after they stopped taking more survivors (Shaun and his dad had arrived back when Wellington's proverbial arms were still open, at least a year before, probably, even though no one really kept track of the date now. It was such and such amount of days since the Outbreak, only so many days left until the harvest season, and that was really all that mattered).

So of course he was surprised when the gates opened, and a girl (his age! She was his age!) walked in, a tiny baby in one arm and a beat-up old orange ballcap in her hand along with the blue and white one she had on her head.

It'd been two years since then. They were thirteen now (well, Clementine had just turned 13 and Shaun was about to turn 14), and it was winter again, which was good because it made the walkers slow. Clementine had been slow to open up to him, and he still didn't know a lot of things about what she'd been through (it was easy to tell that she'd been through a lot), but he hadn't told her about listening to his mom and dad argue in hushed tones over what to do about Jason, and he hadn't told her about the way he'd been struck speechless when he saw his brother's eyes flutter open, milky and lifeless, from where he sat cradled in their mom's arms. How he hadn't warned her before Jason bared his teeth and sank them into her neck.

He didn't tell her about the silence that nearly consumed his dad, afterward, or how he'd gotten separated one day while he was trying to find supplies, and he'd been so afraid that his dad didn't care, wouldn't come, didn't notice, or how his dad looked, clothes soaked with rain and blood and walker guts, his left arm missing just below the elbow, tourniquet around his arm and a blood-soaked, still-dripping bandage wrapped around the stump.

It took him longer than it should've to notice the sad way she sometimes looked at his dad's arm.

But they were safe now, it was safe in Wellington. So they didn't have to talk about the past if they didn't want, and Shaun wouldn't ask if Clem didn't want to tell.]

Hey, Clem.

[Shaun climbed up on the pile of sandbags, sitting down next to her with a shy smile. The trouble with being friends, with having someone else his age, was that now...

Shaun had a little bit of a crush on her.]

Hey.

[Clementine looks over at Shaun with a small smile in return, her hands resting at her sides as she looks back out over the area. Currently seated up against one of the small buildings, it's easy to watch some people milling about as they go about their daily duties, looking almost for all the world like there aren't walkers roaming around outside the frozen walls.

It had been hard, coming here. It was hard enough to have to leave Kenny, not knowing where he would go from there. Probably further north if that were even possible, trying to find someplace safe enough to live. She liked to think that he found a new group. If anything, he made it out alive the first time...so he certainly wasn't easy to kill, that was for sure. So, for a little while, it was just her and AJ. He had become her brother, and even though other adults had taken over the task of watching the baby turned toddler, it was hard for them to completely wrest him from Clementine. She would refuse to be told that she couldn't take care of him.

Really, none of them had the room to argue. She had gone through more than a lot of them had.

Today, she wasn't thinking about that. At least, she was trying not to. It was cold, but it was quiet too, and that was a good thing. Seeing Shaun made her day a little better, too, because she liked Shaun. He was the first friend she'd had her age since Duck, and that felt like a century ago now.]

Pretty cold today. Do you think it might snow soon?

[personal profile] neededlassie 2014-10-23 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
[The sandbags, saved for when the rain i the summer threatened to overflow the drainage system, made a convenient place to sit that wasn't in the way, and wasn't too far removed from the action of the camp. It was a useful place for kids who might be too small for some of the heavier labor to keep track of what was going on.

Shaun's interest hadn't been too piqued by the baby AJ when Clementine had first carried him into the walls, but as he saw how much she cared about her little brother and as the baby got more interesting, going from a baby to a toddler, Shaun found himself sometimes helping Clem babysit AJ, when she didn't want to just be alone with him. Right now, AJ was asleep under the watchful eye of the adults, who were fully willing to let Clementine do most of the work (and claim the most reward) for taking care of him, but who also made sure that sometimes, while AJ was napping, she took some time to try to just be a kid, too.]

I dunno, maybe. It's almost winter again.

[Shaun glanced at Clem and then up at the sky.]

What do you think? You're from the south, right? I bet it didn't snow much.

[personal profile] keptitshort 2014-10-23 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, not really. I think it snowed...one time, when I was little.

[She looks up too, pulling her legs a bit closer to herself.]

The power went out, and we didn't have a generator or anything because we never really needed one before. But it wasn't too bad. We were outside most of the time anyway.

[Sometimes, Clem wonders why- or how- she's able to remember little things like this. Little memories from a life that doesn't even seem like it was her own any longer. Really, it felt like she had started over the day she met Lee.]

I'm fine with it...so long as it doesn't snow too much.

[She's already experienced what that kind of weather can do. It's already taken lives, and they don't need anything else to put them in danger.]
neededlassie: (That was fun)

[personal profile] neededlassie 2014-10-23 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Shaun smiles a little, sad and kind of distant. The smile that belongs more on a much older person's face. The same one that a lot of kids their age, ones who were old enough to remember what it was like before people started turning into walkers, had.]

Where I lived, it snowed all the time. We usually had at least one snow a year that was like... a foot or more. One time, there was so much snow that it came up over my head.

[He pauses, and hugs his knees a little.]

...That kind of snow would suck, here. 'Specially because we'd have to help shovel it.
keptitshort: (lived a miner)

[personal profile] keptitshort 2014-10-23 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Wow..

[She lets out a low breath at that, trying to imagine snow that's taller than she is, much less Shaun, who stands over her an inch or so. Of course, he's right. That much snow in Wellington would be nothing short of miserable.]

Yeah. Nothing like shoveling snow from a dozen sidewalks.

[Said in reference to the fact that most buildings, where there are any, are pretty close together. It's better that way, in the event that something happens and one person needs to get to another quickly. No huge gaps to cross, but it still had its risks.]
neededlassie: (smiling)

[personal profile] neededlassie 2014-10-23 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? Good thing it doesn't snow that much here.

[Probably because it's so close to Lake Erie.]

But I hope we'll get at least a little bit. AJ's big enough to walk now, it'll be cute to see what he thinks of it.

[Once he's properly outfitted for cold weather, that is.]
keptitshort: (herring boxes without topses)

[personal profile] keptitshort 2014-10-23 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

[She nods a little, smiling a bit at the mention of AJ.]

I think he'd like it.

[Of course, he was far too young to remember nearly being lost in the snow to begin with...but Clementine doesn't plan on telling him about that, if she can help it.]

Maybe if there's enough we could teach him how to make a snowman.

[She pauses.]

A tiny one.

Get your sleeve rolled up… [Luke says, crouching beside Clementine.] ...an’ let’s have a look at that arm.

[They’ve braved barbed wire fences, broken glass, and small clusters of snarling walkers for most of the afternoon, returning at last to the boarded-up ranger’s cabin they’ve been lodging in just before nightfall. And they have not arrived empty handed, either. It has been a successful supply run, the best in weeks, and now they have a can of green beans and corned beef to look forward to for dinner. Even peach wedges drenched in syrup for dessert, if they're feeling particularly fancy. He's hoping they might get the lingering taste of last week's gag-worthy tin of cat food out of his mouth but that be might be wishful thinking on his part.

The doors have been blocked off with furniture, the candles lit, and now, for the first time in hours, it seems they have the chance to breathe out.

[Clem tips her head down a bit and rolls up her sleeve carefully, wincing a bit as the material of her shirt brushes against the gash there. It's pretty deep, since she'd been unlucky enough to get herself snagged on one of those aforementioned fences. With walkers after you, it's hard to get untangled without doing yourself some damage. Thankfully, it was nothing like when she was bitten by that dog, but it didn't make the pain any less insufferable.

She does manage a bit of a smile despite the pain, holding her sleeve up.]

How's it look, doctor?
burningdaylight: (pic#8415276)

[personal profile] burningdaylight 2014-10-23 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Clementine, please. He’s trying to be cooly professional about it although all hope is lost when her question has him cracking a soft little chuckle.]

Well… [He considers the oozing gash for a good while, frowning sympathetically] …looks like that fence cut you up pretty good back there. Hold on a sec, lemme jus’ get this cleaned off an’ have a better look.

[Turning, he paws through the rucksack unshouldered and dumped onto the floor beside him and sifts through cans and supplies for a bottle of water and a scrap of cloth he had rinsed clean at a river along the way. He dampens the rag and screws the cap back on the bottle, sliding it aside before his attention’s back on her.]

Now this'll be a li'l cold... [He gently takes her upper arm, rubbing away the thin trails of half-dry blood streaking her skin and trying to let her get accustomed to the feeling before his touch moves any closer to the wound.]
keptitshort: (excavating for a mine)

[personal profile] keptitshort 2014-10-23 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[The coldness is almost shocking when it touches her skin, causing her breath to catch slightly, but after a moment it becomes more soothing than anything else as he clears the blood away. As with most injuries, it's hot to the touch and a bit inflamed from where the fence tore at her arm, but she's hoping that with some quick bandaging it won't actually get infected later on.

She keeps still though as Luke works, watching out of the corner of her eye. From what she can see it already looks pretty bad, but that's mostly due to how much bleeding it's done. That tends to make even a small cut look worse than it is.]
burningdaylight: (determined)

[personal profile] burningdaylight 2014-10-24 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry ‘bout that.

[He’s close enough that the soft hitching of her breath doesn’t go unnoticed and he glances up at her instinctively before he's back to gingerly dabbing the cloth around and over the ragged edges of the wound. She’s not a little kid who scraped her knee – her crude but effective suturing job on her arm was proof enough of her incredible hardiness. A courage some lacked as adults. But the world being what it is, he’d rather not subject her to more discomfort than she already needs to put up with.]

Alright… now comes the part you ain’t gonna like so much. But it’s gotta get done. [He folds and stuffs the bloodied rag into the back pocket of his jeans, poking through his bag again for a tiny square package - one of several alcohol towelettes scattered over one of the counters at a decrepit diner. He tears the corner of the wrapper with his teeth, the sharp scent of wintergreen spiking up his nostrils.]

You ready?
keptitshort: (you are lost)

[personal profile] keptitshort 2014-10-24 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
[The correct answer would be no, always no. But instead she lies as she does every time, nodding curtly.]

Yeah, I'm ready.

[Nothing would ever compare to the pain of what she did to her arm, so this would just be nothing. Still, that doesn't mean she really enjoys having her various cuts and wounds disinfected, either.]
burningdaylight: (solemn profile)

[personal profile] burningdaylight 2014-10-24 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
[They all have their masks to put on and fronts to put up and Luke understands that more than well enough not to question her answer. He carries on, patting her gash with the quickly-drying alcohol wipe and striving to be both quick and thorough about it.]

I know it sucks, but... jus' hold on. It'll be over in a li'l bit.

[It's talk for the sake of a distraction and he can only hope it helps some whether or not she needs it.]

Jus'... try not to punch me in the face.
keptitshort: (and her shoes were)

[personal profile] keptitshort 2014-10-24 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Clementine grits her teeth hard behind her lips before he even touches her wound, closing her eyes tightly when she feels the sting hit her rather suddenly, sending a shock of pain through her arm and what feels like all the way into the side of her head.

She just shakes her head a little in the best gesture of "I'll try my best" that she can manage to get across without actually punching him.]
burningdaylight: (thanks clem [smile])

[personal profile] burningdaylight 2014-10-24 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
M’almost done. Good news is… [-- dab dab dab --] I don’ think it’s so deep that we need to get it stitched up. Jus’ gotta keep it clean and you’ll be fine. You, uh, might be stuck with another scar, though.

[He offers her an apologetic smile as he balls up the wipe in his hands and tosses it off into the corner of the cabin.]
keptitshort: (forty-niner)

[personal profile] keptitshort 2014-10-25 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
[She breathes a sigh of relief at that that's almost involuntary.]

That's good. Scars are pretty cool, I guess.

[It shows everyone how hardcore she is...right?]
burningdaylight: (whaddya think [looking up smile])

[personal profile] burningdaylight 2014-10-25 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Clementine still has a way of surprising him with positive outlook on things other kids would cry over and his smile turns encouraging.]

Sure are... an' way cooler than stumps. It's jus' like earnin' one a' them badges at camp.

[He fishes out a large adhesive bandage - one of many lucky finds today - and strips away the wrapper and plastic, keeping his fingers off the clean white pad he lines up with the wound. The rest is easy enough and he snugly wraps the sticky ends around her arm, gently smoothing the bandage over her skin.]

That should do it.

Thanks. It's feeling better already.

[Actually, it feels worse, if only because the sting is still present from it being disinfected. Somehow they always hurt worse later, and half the time she didn't even realize she'd been hurt until after the fact.]
