pinevestigator: (the trees keep the tempo)

[It did, just...well, probably barely an hour ago. By now it's likely to have been more time than that, but not that much. To Dipper it certainly feels like an eternity has passed. It's eerie in itself that Dipper can so easily feel Dib's fingers brushing against the wood that now composes his head, as if it were really his body now. It drives home even further the grim reality of the situation, causing him to unintentionally jerk back slightly when Dib himself pulls away.

As cruelly ironic as it is, next to Yamask, Phantump and their evolved form Trevenant were what Dipper was the most eager to study more thoroughly. Given the fact that Stan even has a Trevenant as one of his companions, that only furthered Dipper's innate curiosity, not to mention the fact that the forest did seem to be rather filled with them.
As soon as Dib speaks again Dipper is shaken from his thoughts, reminding him of what he was about to do in the first place. Quickly he darts into the forest, trusting that he'll be followed as he makes his way through the trees.

Now that he's in the darkness, it's almost as if he can see better than he could with the light of the moon illuminating the clearing they'd been in before. He can see every Pokemon watching him as he goes, the few little Phantump that lift their heads from where they'd been sleeping sending additional shocks of surprise through him. Now that he found himself in this situation, the fact that so many Phantump existed was quite horrifying to say the least.
When he first came to, Dipper immediately fled the area once he realized what had happened. Now he just hopes that he'll be able to find-

...He stops short, knocking his head against a low hanging branch in his surprise when he nearly stumbles upon the full brunt of something he knows he doesn't want to be forced to witness. Luckily enough- if it can even be considered so- the aftermath seemed to be spread far enough so that he without a doubt knows where he is without having to go any farther.

Just up ahead in a small clearing flanked by bushes that surround an even larger one sits the same old hat he could always be seen wearing. The face of it has been gashed to the point where the tree patch sewn on the front has nearly been torn off, but the most telling evidence of what happened to it's original wearer is spattered all across the front and inside.
