gazlookaliens: (My best friend thinks)

[Stomach dropping sure is a thing that's happening here, though. Oh. Oh no. That can't REALLY - Dib steps shakily back as the little pokemon floats closer, and when it gives its small, quiet nod it's like the whole world's been thrown upside down.

They'd talked about it, of course. It was one of the things they wanted to study, especially since so many Phantump and Trevenant inhabited this forest. They'd discussed the possible connection between human and pokemon for hours, questioned if memories remained, what exact circumstances caused it... not once had they thought it might happen to one of them. They were about to get some answers, and for once, that was the last thing Dib wanted.

He sees it now. Every mannerism, every gesture or fidget just screams Dipper, and the literal constellation of scratches at the top of the stump stands out like it's mocking him for not noticing it before. Dib actually reaches for it before he can stop himself, fingers brushing against the marks, and the confirmation that they're real sends his stomach on another roller coaster ride. He's glad he didn't eat much today. He jerks his hand back, dropping his gaze to the ground.]

I... sorry.

[That was lame. Cassandra takes a step forward, but then Dib is shaking himself, straightening and setting his jaw and looking back at Dipper with... well, he's not sure what, really. He's shocked and horrified, and angry in all sorts of ways, and kind of intrigued which just makes him feel terrible. But dammit, there's no one else but him and his team here to DO something, so he sure as hell is going to do it.]

This... this just happened, didn't it? [A gulp.] Where... show me.
