Stranded
[The day had started out rather decently with surprisingly little hang ups, as days don't normally tend to go completely by without something hitting a snag. At least, that's how things had gone throughout Hiccup's lifetime. All he'd wanted to do was go for a short flight with Toothless, maybe circle the island a few times just to give him a chance to stretch his wings. It's not like he had anything particular he needed to get done today anyway.
Of course Berk and it's unpredictable weather decided today wasn't going to be a smooth day. THe wind picked up inexplicably when Hiccup steered Toothless out towards the sea. By the time he decided it might be best if they just turn back the clouds had gotten so dark and so thick around them that he could barely tell which way was up. Summer storms weren't all that uncommon, but this was more like a summer monsoon than anything else. So violent was the wind that it pushed Toothless further and further from the main island, leaving them unable to go in any direction but with the wind.
The storm carried on for what seemed like ages, until finally it hit a peak with the wind becoming so bad that it tore Toothless' prosthetic tail fin right off before he or Hiccup knew what was going on. Leaving the dragon unable to fly they plummeted from the sky, down to an island that luckily happened to be there. They landed hard on the shore, kicking up dirt and rocks in their wake. It was all Hiccup could do to hang on to the saddle until finally the force of the impact sent him hurtling over Toothless' head, sliding a few feet further on his side before they both finally came to a stop.
Though the landing had been admittedly rough, the sand was soft enough to keep them from getting hurt too badly. Not to say they wouldn't be feeling that in the morning, though.]
.....Aaaghhh....
...Bud? ...You alright?

The Night Fury pulled his head out from the sand and shook specks free from his scales, much like a domesticated dog would shake water from its body. He turned his head to examine the saddle on his back, pawing the ground as he twisted his neck to look at the torn leather. He snorted. Great. Testing his wings, he was relieved to see that they still worked and he hadn't lost another. At least they're intact.
His earflap pricked up as he heard moaning over to his left, letting out a trilling noise to let the boy know he was before he trotted over, extending his neck to bite around the collar of Hiccup's shirt and help him sit up.]

Good, good. Looks like we're not going anywhere for a while..
[Not if that broken tail fin had anything to say about it. With a grunt he stood up the rest of the way, putting his weight on his good leg to avoid sinking too far into the sand. He was sore and irritated that that happened, but unhurt at least.]

[Hiccup leaned against Toothless and shifted so he was standing up a bit straighter, squinting as he looked over the sand in the direction of the sea. There seemed to be nothing but ocean all around them, and it's become too foggy to see if they're anywhere near Berk or not. They have no choice but to wait out the storm before they can do anything else. ..Not like they'll be going anywhere anyway.]
Well we can't be too far off from home...
[He glanced over his shoulder before gesturing to the more wooded area away from the beach with a jerk of his head.]
Might as well get out of this sand and see what we're dealing with here, yeah?

Sometimes it was a shame Hiccup couldn't understand him because Toothless was sure they'd have brilliant fun snarking at each other. Instead, he let out a grunt as he followed Hiccup's line of eyesight, nostrils flaring. He couldn't pick up the scent of anything dangerous coming from within the wooded area, but the salty air could be messing with his sense of smell. His ears pricked back before they flicked forward.
If there was any chance there was something bigger and more dangerous than he was on this island or wherever they were, Toothless had no doubt he could look after both of them, but...well. He glanced at his rider out the corner of his eye, a clicking noise coming from the back of his throat before he snorted at himself. No, he could protect them both. He'd see his boy home safely or die trying.
So what's it going to be?]

C'mon. Let's take a closer look.
[For the most part the island seemed to be completely deserted. Not large enough to support a village, but big enough to be a comfortable place for animals and various fauna to live. At least they would feasibly be able to live off the land if they had to. ...But Hiccup hopes it won't come to that.]

There's nothing this close to the shore...then again what sane creature would be out in this kind of weather. Oh wait.
Toothless let out a small noise and perked his ears forward from where they were flat against his head, placing a front paw forward to show Hiccup it was okay to start moving.]

On ahead a thicket of trees could be seen, their tops gently swaying in the wind. The sun was finally beginning to peek through the clouds again, and from the looks of it's position it was still around midday. Plenty of time for them to find a cave, at least.]
