one｡ SURVIVORS -- you two are the only ones left, whether it be the result of the apocalypse, a fight with the final boss gone horribly wrong, or something equally tragic. now you're left to contemplate friends and loved ones lost, as well as which one of you may be next.


two｡ SICKNESS -- you are seriously ill. poisoning, virus, perhaps it's even mental; whatever the reason, you doubt time is on your side this time.


three｡ FORGOTTEN -- you're not sure how, but your memories are crumbling and the things you do recall are hazy and make you dizzy. can you even recognize the person in front of you anymore?


four｡ SEPARATED -- you can see them, hear them, but something's keeping you from being with them. perhaps you're placed in a room with impenetrable glass dividing you, or you're hiding in a phone booth downtown, calling them secretly.


five｡ MELLOWED -- you've been through things, you've loved and you've lost, and all of that's changed you. maybe you finally decided to give in to temptation, you could be addicted to a substance you know is destroying you, or you've simply lost the optimism you had as a youth.


six｡ ANTAGONIST -- you've flipped the coin. you had to do it; they might not be able to understand it, but you just can't forgive the things that have happened. the darkness has consumed you.

[He didn't seem convinced yet, but he didn't outright disagree with her either. Right now he just held her, keeping his arms circled around her body.]

[She pulled back, just enough to look at him, giving him a reassuring smile.]

It will be okay...you'll see...

[He looked back at her, then sighed deeply and rested his forehead against hers, closing his eyes.]

I'm just scared, now that I know about it.

[strengthinkindness]

[She sighed softly.] I...I-I know...But...it's still a part of you, right? Maybe...maybe you can learn to control it...

[beingthecreature]

[A little shiver went through his body, and if he hadn't been resting against her he probably would have shook his head.]

I don't know. I'm not sure I want to. I kinda don't want anything to do with it.

[strengthinkindness]

[She reaches up, gently stroking his cheek.] I-I know...it seems terrible...trying to work with...something like that. But...if you keep fighting it...something like this might...might happen again. And maybe next time...it won't stop.

But if...if you learn to control...if you learn to hone those abilities, instead of suppressing them...then you'd be able to use them...when you want to...and to hold off when you don't...

[Somehow, she manages a small smile.] A-after all...creature instincts can be...pretty strong...right?

[He's silent as he absorbs this, staring down and toward the ground. At length he finally nodded, acceptance of her words and the whole concept.]

[strengthinkindness]

[With a softer smile, she gently kisses his cheek.] Everything will be all right...I promise.

[He nodded, then lifted his chin slightly, giving her a tired smile.]

I'd like to go home now.

[strengthinkindness]

[She nodded.] Of course...let's go home...

[...Which might be easier said than done, considering how weak he felt as she continued to support him.]

Are...are you okay to walk...?

[beingthecreature]

[He grunted as he shifted to his own weight, nodding after a minute.]

Yeah. Don't worry about me.

[And he gave her a smile to show it.]

[Still, worry about him is just something she does. Even as she nods, she gently slips her arm in his, holding on to him that way and still being able to catch him in case he fell.

Looking up at him, though, she simply smiled.] Let's go then.

[He waited a moment until he was steady, and his arm tightened to hold onto hers, though in a way that was more affectionate than unsteady. He nodded, and gave her a little smile.]
