Have you ever wondered what life in the world of Pokémon is like? Well, wonder no more, because in this world? You're the Pokémon.



Rules:

-Post your character's name and their canon in the subject line.

-Though in the games you are restricted to certain Pokémon (and their first forms only) to start, in this meme you can be any Pokémon you choose. Make sure you mention what Pokemon they are in your top level, and feel free to elaborate on their appearance or even occupation if you choose!

-This meme takes place majorly in the areas featured in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, but I'm also including features and locations from previous games as well! (I miss Kangaskhan Storage okay don't look at me).

-In Gates to Infinity, a special feature of your Pokémon Paradise is the inclusion of traveling sales 'mon! These Pokemon run their own businesses and provide services that can be useful to adventurers. Feel free to have your character as a proprietor of their own shop or business- Post Town could use more variety, after all!

Starting prompts

1) Welcome to the World of Pokémon!: You've just woken up and your head aches...you're in the forest somewhere, washed up at the beach, or maybe someone's brought you to their home after finding you comatose somewhere. When you finally come to, you notice you're feeling very oddly, and should you decide to find a puddle or a mirror to check yourself...well, surprise! You're a Pokémon now! ....what? What do you mean you used to be human?

2) Exploring the town: Whether you're non-native or you've lived here all your life, there's plenty in Post Town to check out. Maybe you need to stock up on supplies for at the Kecleon's shop or exchange some of your hard-earned gold for items and other goodies at Cofagrigus' Glorious Gold! Perhaps you found some mysterious chests you'd like Rampardos to break open for you? And once you're done there, you can store your spare items at Kangaskhan Storage for safe keeping, or your money at Persian's Bank. There's also Swanna's Inn and Café for you and your partners to visit after a long day of adventuring.

3)On a mission: Azumarill is up to her ears in requests for help today! Whether it's a Pokemon trapped in a dungeon in need of rescue, a lost item that needs to be found, or a group of rogue Pokemon that need stopping, these Pokemon could use all the help they can get!

If you're having trouble coming up with a situation to play out, I've also come up with some starting scenario prompts to choose from!

Scenario Prompts:

1)Stargazing: You and your partner have been through a lot. It's been a long, hard week of adventuring, and this evening you both finally have the chance to rest from it all. According to Umbreon and Espeon, there's going to be a meteor shower tonight, one that occurs only once every one hundred years. It just so happens that your base is located in the perfect spot to watch them, so why not take advantage of the opportunity?

2)The Pecha Festival: Post Town holds an annual festival that celebrates the Pecha Berry, a versatile and extremely sweet fruit that not only cures poisoning, but is very healthy and delicious! Ms. Swanna has prepared dozens of dishes featuring this berry that will be sold throughout the town, and you might notice that just everyone has decorated their shops in some fashion for the festivities. The Request Boards are closed today (barring emergencies, of course) so kick back and have some fun!

3)Critical Hit!: You and your partner have been adventuring, and something's gone really bad in a hurry. Maybe you two have been cornered by some tough Pokemon you can't get past, or one of you has been seriously injured. Either way, things are looking dire, and you need to get out of there. Fast.

4)I don't want to say goodbye: Your partner used to be human, but now their time in this world is up. They're leaving, and there's nothing that either of you can do about it. You have just a short while before they disappear, so make it count.

5) Make your own!: Come up with your own scenario!

[Jimmy's a Girafarig who has two left feet. He's a little clumsy sometimes but he really does mean well, and he tries to help any Pokemon he comes across. He's a rescuer for this reason! He wears a green bandanna around his neck with his team badge pinned onto it. Sometimes, he'll carry supplies for the team in saddlebags.]

Chihiro Fujisaki | Dangan Ronpa | Dedenne

[Chihiro is a Dedenne who runs a Technical Machine shop in Post Town. If you need some new TMs, he's the mouse to go to! He's around most any time during the day, commonly found seated out front using the end of his tail to clean off TM disks. He's not the adventurer type, so he doesn't mind supporting rescuers on their missions. He wears a green ribbon tied into a bow around his neck.]

Kaneki Ken | Tokyo Ghoul | Duskull

[Kaneki is a Duskull who runs a bookstore in Post Town. The books he sells come in all varieties and genres, though you'll find that the mystery and horror section is particularly full. There's also a section specifically for field guides and manuals that could aid explorers on their journeys. He wears an eyepatch over his left eye socket, perhaps due to worrying that his one roaming eye may cause his customers to feel uneasy.]

Nagi Naoe | Weiss Kreuz | Espurr

[Nagi is an Espurr who...apparently works as a rescuer, but this is only speculation since nobody in Post Town has actually been on a mission with him. He'll leave town for days at a time before returning with items, seemingly from the mission he had been on. He doesn't talk much to other Pokemon, either, and instead keeps to himself in the hollow of a tree that serves as his home at the outskirts of Post Town. Perhaps he's not the only one living out here...but if that's the case, he's never told anyone. He wears a blue scarf around his neck with no visible team badges.

One wonders if he's out there doing any rescuing at all, or if it's something more nefarious...if that's the case, he's pretty good at keeping himself off the Wanted Ads.]

Nagisa Hazuki | Free! | Piplup

[Nagisa is a Piplup who...well, has the energy of a hundred Pokemon, really. He's easily excitable and is constantly looking for a new adventure to go on. He's a rescuer that never seems to run down. He wears a pink bandanna around his neck with his team badge pinned to it.]

Pepper Minthia | OC | Togekiss

[Pepper is a Togekiss who runs a sweets shop in Post Town. He doesn't make pastries but is instead well known for his hard candies, such as lollies and peppermint sticks. His specialty is toffee of dozens of different flavors, each made with a different kind of berry. These toffees can be bought and eaten in dungeons to give the same affect as the berry that it was made from would. He wears a red and white handkerchief around his neck.]

[It was a well-known fact Driffie Pie had a Jolly Nature. Oh, dear sweet Arceus was she jolly. And she also had a very, VERY big appetite for her beloved sweets. So after a good, long day of exploring dungeons and rescuing Pokemon, Driffie would often stop somewhere for a pastry or a smoothie or- as today- some hard candy.]

Adrian Cinnabar | OC | Volcarona

[Adrian is a Volcarona who many rescuers might recognize. This is because his face is plastered on the "Wanted Ads" board as Azumarill's request post, along with a pretty hefty reward should be be found. He's known mostly for stealing in Post Town and can be encountered if a team reaches the last floor of the Dubious Forest.

But be warned, rescuers. He's fairly strong and doesn't plan on being taken in without a fight.]

Enrico Pucci | JJBA | Zoroark

[Enrico is a zoroark who handles giving healing items to villagers and rescuers alike (and the word of our lord Arceus). He's kind enough to everyone he meets and doesn't seem to have an ill word for anyone (unless you get in his way). Lately however, he's been seen disappearing off into the ruins. He is a shiny zoroark, but most notable is the complex fur lines on his face.]

[Either way he's making a name for himself as a solo rescuer, having a reputation for ruthless and efficient methods of traversing dungeons. He sometimes helps out other teams when it comes to more dangerous areas, but his help doesn't come cheap.]

[There's also rumors that he runs a less than reputable organization on the side, but rumors are just rumors.]

[Genie is a honege that works as a 'rescuer' in the loosest sense of the word. Adhering to her own strange sense of right and wrong and having a rather bleak and obtuse look on the world, she nonetheless looks for other rescuers and adventurers to tag along with. She's a shiny honege wearing lipstick.]

Minato Arisato | Persona 3 FES || Absol

[Minato is an Absol that is part of the Pokemon Expidition Society, known for his specialty in traversing the more dark and sinister areas of the Pokemon world. He and those close to him can be identified by orange arm/leg bands with an Expidition Society badge pinned to it.]

[It's unknown what random providence led to him keeping his MP3 player from when he was human, but he did, and can often be found around town listening to it, or asking an electric-type to charge it.]

Perry the Platypus | Phineas and Ferb | Psyduck

[Perry is the most serious Psyduck in the world. He works as a rescuer but despite that, he almost entirely works alone. Despite that, he usually is decently friendly around other Pokemon but if he ever has to work in a team he'll probably just go off to do his own thing since he obviously knows the best way to do this.]

[Burgerpants is a meowth working in the new branch of the growing MTT fast food chain, selling ridiculously overpriced food with bad names and bad taste. Burgerpants is forced to stand here at this job he almost loathes as much as his boss. He's wearing the MTT-brand uniform and an MTT-brand smile at all times.]

Urianger/Nabriales (AU) | Final Fantasy XIV | Absol

[ You know, having an Ascian-turned-Scion-turned-Absol - keeping his goggles on to hide his eyes - miiight not be the best idea. Urianger, for his part, has settled down as a Pokemon salesperson - selling stories and books to assist people with knowing about the world they find themselves in, along with legends of Gods and the such. It's a good life.

Though, he does sometimes go out and steal items from people - returning to his Ascian roots, trying to find out why he's here, why his tormenter sent him to another world. When he does this, he replaces his goggles with a simple black scarf and BlackGlasses. ]

[Sometimes Pokemon are just scary legends pokeparents tell their kids so they'll behave. Don't go into that dungeon, they said. You'll see your worst nightmares if you go in there, they said! But that never stops the bravest of explorers, those stories can't possibly be true. Besides, think of all the treasure that could be down there! And come on, what could possibly be haunting the place? Ghost Pokemon? They're everywhere, they aren't scary.

[ If you are one of the dark, and yet walk in the light... legends such as this must be investigated. At least, that is what Urianger told himself as he was heading though the dungeon - showing an amazing amount of power. More then he'd usually reveal as he was with others.

He'd oft let out skills an Absol would only know if very well trained - almost seeming like he was Mega Evolved.

All for the desire of seeing if the legends and myths of a Legendary were true. ]

[Sometimes the craft calls and you just have to keep working til it's dark out. Even if Tassock hated the dark, he was dedicated to making sure people got their wood.

And sometimes? Sometimes you had to make a wood delivery into dark unknown dungeons for un-Arceusly reasons. Probably a prank, but he had a business to run and if it meant going into the dark scary dungeon while on the verge of crying? Well ok.]
