A clamor some ways away from her favorite berry bush startled her one day, and she pondered whether or not to address it. Not her problem. Somebody else should deal.
The clamor grew louder as it approached her. With an annoyed grumble, she lumbered towards the noise. If it wouldn't keep quiet, she would make it stay quiet.

A cloaked figure currently had his arms locked around the Chaotic's throat, clinging on in his chokehold as the beast tried, in vain, to buck him off. It snarled and charged for a tree, throwing its shoulders into it, and still the person clung on.
The more the Chaotic wound itself up though, the more the lack of air got to it and it was soon struggling to make any move at all, going down to one knee and then the other. It was letting out breathless, snarling coughs now, and as it fell its opponent scrambled higher up onto its shoulders and pulled back one arm, his gauntlet there glistening in the filtered sunlight.
He clenched his fist and grit his teeth, and a blade shot out from behind the handguard. His other hand braced in the Chaotic's burnt fur, he plunged the blade in between head and neck, pulling a pained roar out of the monster. Magic sparked where the blade went in, tracing up behind it as he pulled it out, and then stabbed it in again. The vicious beast struggled a few seconds and then went still, and its opponent rolled off and to the ground as the body began to fade away.
He stayed there in a crouch, breathing deeply, arms hanging tiredly down at his sides.

The Chaotic faded, and with it went many of the smells -- sweat and bile among them. But another smell reached her nose, and it twitched in surprise as she regarded the boy: he was bleeding, and badly.
Well... what should she care, right? Except a mothering instinct took over. She had never once had children, but she imagined that she would want to care for any of her cubs that got injured. She didn't see prey, she saw someone hurt.
She lumbered into view from her hiding spot, a large red grizzly bear with only the barest hints of humanity (a bow behind her ears, certain expressions she made).

Still though he was leaning on the balls of his feet despite his injuries, ready to spring away in case need be.

For a bear, her voice is too high; for a teenage girl, her voice is too low. She looks him over -- the wounds aren't as bad as they could be, but he needs shelter or else another Chaotic could come.
"Ya fought good. But ya need rest b'fore ya fight another one." She lowers down, her back a slope for him to climb. "Get on. I'll take ya home."

He stared at her for a few moments, then shifted forward and climbed on top of her. He walked over with something of a limp, favoring the leg with the torn knee, but managed well enough.

"Wha's yer name?"
no subject
"Daniel."

When he was free, in whatever state, she moved out of sight, back into the underbrush for a moment, then shuddered and changed. From where Daniel sat in the cave, a rumbling could be heard.
She returned, moments later, as a human girl, the same bow holding her hair up, a tattered green hoodie and shorts adorning her. "Hang on. I got some stuff in th'back." She set off immediately for her stash in the back of the cave, pulling open a hidden rock to look for first aid supplies.
"Yer a brave one, ya know tha'? Sheesh."

"It's what I do."
no subject
"Here." He's already started cleaning up the wounds rather well, but she tears off a strip of gauze with her teeth and starts binding the larger gashes. First on his hand, and then she goes to press one carefully to his belly.
"Wha' ya do is really effin' dangerous."
no subject
"I know. But it's what I've been trained to do, all my life."
no subject
"Well. Guess th'best I can do is wish ya luck. An' patch ya up." Which she continues to do, carefully binding his wounds one by one, her hands gentle.

He watched her quietly, thoughtful. "Thank you."

Sometimes you just can't leave somebody behind, alone and bleeding in the woods.
"M'name's Kyouko. 'm a werebear." Obviously.

"Cave's yers. Ya should rest here b'fore ya go out, an' definitely b'fore ya fight somethin' else. An' if ya want ta wear my fur ta keep warm, ya can do tha' as well."

"I just have to let someone know where I am, first."

His speech was starting to slow down as the tiredness crept in, the adrenaline from the battle fading fast. The message was sent and he tucked the phone away again.

"Gettin' some sleep too. Monsters don' come in here, an I'm not gonna attack ya." She lays down against a wall near him, curling up into a huge furry ball.
no subject
"Yeah. I doubt anything short of a mammoth would want to mess with you."
no subject
She allows him a grin from where she's curled up. "Cause they know'm so awesome."
