Two muses walk into a bar(ain) Meme

Sometimes, being a muse is a tough job. Sometimes you're working around the clock, and sometimes there are times that you go months without even being noticed. There are even days when you have to scream at the top of your lungs just to be heard, and sometimes the unthinkable happens: you go silent for good.

Either way, it's generally pretty crowded up in the brain of a Mun. Have you ever wondered what it's like up there? ..Well of course not, it's your brain for goodness sake. I never said it wasn't fun to imagine though.

But sometimes? Your muses just need a chance to unwind, take a break, or even blow off some steam...

RULES (AKA Here's how this meme works!! Along with general info and whatnot, please read!):

-This meme takes place in a bar that is a sort of limbo that intersects the headspaces of every mun who posts here! Surely that means the place will either be extremely crowded, or pretty empty.

-Choose two-three of your muses and make a thread with one of their journals, with their names posted in the subject line. It is recommended that you type up a short intro for your characters so someone tagging in knows what they're dealing with.

-Tag into threads with two-three muses of your own!

-When tagging with more than one muse, there are two ways you can do it.

--ONE: Use both journals, swapping journals after each round of tagging.
--TWO: Choose one journal to be the primary journal, and just play both characters. Change the color of the text for the other muses attached to that journal if you choose this route!

-There isn't a right or wrong way to do this, just thread in a way that works for you and your RP partner! Feel free to have just one muse at the bar as well if you'd prefer one-on-one interaction.

-Feel free to choose from the prompts below to get a thread going, or come up with your own!


1. | Who's that over there? | You came to this place to meet some new people right? ..No? Well whatever, might as well mingle anyway. This place has a lot more to do than that dear_mun joint, if anything.

2. | I think we've met before | Oh hey, is that a canon mate over yonder? Better go say hi because if you're a lone-canon warrior in your game-thing, you may never see them again. ...If you're lucky they'll recognize you too, but AUs have become a fairly common occurance in headspaces as of late, so watch out!

3. | What's cookin', good lookin'? | Whether they're a canon mate or someone you've never met before, all you know is that is a very attractive character and you wouldn't mind getting to know them a bit more. What's wrong with a little crossover every now and then? People will ship anything these days.

4. | This drink, I like it. Another! | Looks like you're starting to get a little tipsy with your headspace mates over there. No worries, one of you has to be the DD right? ...well, just make sure you don't wander back into a brain that isn't the one you came from.

5. | You talkin' to me?! | Someone's starting to cheese you off good fashion, and if something doesn't happen soon the fists are going to be flying. Or maybe you've already clocked someone in the nose? In that case, you might wanna take it outside.

6. | Hey pal. Wanna trade muns? | You're absolutely sick of your mun and you wanna give him or her a piece of your mind. Maybe your fellow headspace mates share the sentiments, or maybe you're all on your own. Either way, something's gotta change or you're going to throw in the towel.

7. | Everything is terrible and everything hurts. | Wow. You aren't looking so good over there, buddy. What has your mun done to you? I'm just going to assume terrible, terrible things, and now you're just really upset about it. Someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on would be appreciated right about now.

8. | Wild Card! | Mix prompts or come up with something new to make up your own scenario!

[Both Kovu and BlackWargreymon give the two some space as they approach to order their drinks. Each of them looks a bit guilty that they're even doing that, though, but they're sure they'll kill the little girl's cheer.

What they don't notice, though, is that they're doing almost the exact same thing, and for the exact same reasons. They could almost be mirror images of each other, if they were even remotely similar in species.

The two order their drinks - which end up being water for each of them, and take seats at the bar. Now they're both looking even more lost than before, since they've done something and now don't know what to do next.]

[From across the bar the oddest of pairs notices Celestia and Django, a pair that's equal in its oddity. Mun's were strange like that, finding the most obscure of characters to shove into their headspaces.

After spending some time getting to know Hiccup, Jimmy decided to have a walk around the bar to see who else from his mun's mind he could find and meet up with. It seemed like everybody was already preoccupied with their own conversations at the moment...

All save for one man, sitting all by himself at the farthest corner of the bar that he could hide himself into. Of course seeing someone as brooding and dejected as that drew Jimmy to them like a moth to a porch light.

...Zach is finding himself less than amused by Jimmy's presence.]

...Look. Kid. I don't care if we've got the same mun or whatever, just leave me alone alright?

[He's already had enough to deal with, seeing that the Kratt Brothers were already here. Course Chi would have to be friends with the respective muns of THOSE losers.

Jimmy isn't easily rebuffed, but before he can think of a response he catches sight of Celestia out of the corner of his eye.]



Woooah....is...is that a unicorn?

[Zach sneers, folding his arms tightly over his chest.]



Who cares?

Oh? What would you call it then, hm? I really am quite curious.

[Roxas cringes a bit at Scar, wishing the lion would be a bit less of a jerk than usual. He takes a sip of his pop, then turns his attention back to Minako. If Scar got too out of line he could always smack the lion with a Keyblade anyway.]

Nice to meet you too. What kind of place are you from?

[Loke just smirks.] I'd call it more than you can handle...

[Minako is going for the hard-core ignoring at this point.]



Ah, I'm from one of those magical-girl kinda things... [She shrugs.] Pretty standard really. What about you?

[Sandy doesn't seem to notice the awkwardness surrounding the two - or maybe he does, and waves cheerfully at them in spite of it.

This of course prompts Nanako's attention, and she looks at them with a big smile.]

[Marika seems to get over her surprise quickly, or at least hide it. Staring isn't polite in the presence of royalty (although her track record of royalty and formal politeness isn't exactly that good).]

So what brings you here? You don't seem the type to hang out at bars like this too often.

[A seven feet tall in battered MJOLNIR armor watches beside them, a cold glass mug of amber lager in hand, and his face hidden by the flare of a white light glowing behind him, darkening him but not the helmet resting over the bar. He looks at Kreutzer, then at Twilight, not the strangest thing he had ever seen in his time away from home by far.

He turns back to drink, familiar with their plight -- too long outside of home, too changed. The small girl beside him continues to watch.]

Sometimes longer.




To his side, a small girl with pigtails with a warm cup of tea on her bar watches blankly at both beings. Oddly enough, not so much wondering why is there a magical pony in the bar, but what breed or variation of the equus genus may it belong to.]

Sometimes it is not necessarily a continuation of an already concluded story for lucrative ends as there are authors that have longed to continue writing stories with their characters. [She looks at the massive Spartan beside her.] Among them that the british author J.R.R. Tolkien used based on his own experience... reverse cultural shock.

[She holds her cup, looking at it. Her mun has been wondering whenever if to app her someplace. Would she turn out like this? Returning to Hikarizawa changed by all she saw?]

[Hiccup just shakes his head and takes a swig of his own drink. Might as well not stop him.]

[John saw the trailer for Halo 5, and the implication that he might have turned rogue through both Frankie's comment on it and fan theories does not fill him with confidence that he may have a lot of help in either his mun's or 343i's story. In any case, if the lager on hand wasn't obvious, he is not happy about the possibility.

Kotomi Ichinose, fresh out of the first season of her anime canon and currently having John as her legal guardian in this bar, comes to sympathize disliking the caretakers of their canons as she holds her tea. Even if she was one year older to be allowed to drink, she wouldn't trust her constitution by a long shot.]

The extension of a story through unexpected ways is common. A change in the status quo is perhaps one of the most effective ways to show a radical change in a character and a work of fiction to garner interest.


[Not that it comforts him a lot. John keeps looking down.]

Same as muns do.


[This makes her turn her head.]

I have not been in a game, so I cannot know much of what could happen if I did. [And the stories about characters returning from these games fail to make her eager to enter one.] The route of the animated adaptation of the Clannad visual novel promised me a life and work in North America... it could be the only positive route I get from either Key Visual Arts or our mun.

[She wants an OVA of her route. While she hardly harbors hatred towards most people, she had come long ago to the conclusion that the people in Key/Visual Arts were bullies.]



[What could happen... good question. While their mun favored adventure games and PSLs, there will still be dangers. Even if some changes could have been for the best, there is something John learned: If you return home, you will not be the same. He drinks, before thinking.]

Unless you try for a good end.

[As a Spartan, he had to. Kotomi, looking down at her cup before blowing the steam to drink, has to agree. Even if she ends up being summoned for a game.]

Alia Shepard (Mass Effect) and Maria Traydor (Star Ocean 'Till The End of Time) | 4

Hey, bartender, hit me again. This stuff isn't half bad.

[So says a rather...tipsy, snarky and drunk off her ass commander, who just ran through her 4th drink. Whoops, doesn't look like she hasn't gotten any better at holding her liquor.

At the seat next to her is a blue haired girl, fresh from the clusterfuck that was her entire game's plot, really unsure of what to make of this mess.]



Shepard, right? Shouldn't you hold off on that? You've been drinking an awful lot lately.



[The commander points indignantly towards her, though rather...unsteadily, to say the least of it.]

The hell're you talkin' aboout? [The slur in her voice couldn't have been any more obvious than it was there.] This is nothin' compared to ryncol. That stuff kills people.



[Cue very unamused look from the younger girl.]

...Then why did you even drink it? Better yet, how are you still alive?

[...Oh look, two linefacey protagonists from their respective games are at the same table, just being their usual linefacey selves. They're actually quite acquainted, too.]

[Alice--a girl dressed in red with hair much longer than her body--still fresh from certain...events...in her canon, takes a seat next to the blue-haired boy without a second thought. As ever, she is blind to personal space.]

...I'm hungry.



[Blink blink. Minato stares at the newcomer--]



[--As does Souji.]

...If you're hungry, then call for a waiter and order something. It's not that hard.

Because here comes Shepard, and it looks like she's babysitting, what with the blue-haired kid trailing her.]

Well, well, look at what the cat dragged in.



[Maria glances at the pair, arms crossed.]

Friend of yours?



[She grins a little.]

We go way back. [Her attention goes to the quarian in question, as well as her companion.] Hey, Tali. Been making friends?

can Ami have John? :D

Do you believe in that - a good end?

[She never really has. Oh, she believes she can win battles. And if she doesn't, she believes in a warrior's death.

But peace? happiness? satisfaction?

Both. =w=

[Both the Spartan and the schoolgirl turn towards Ami, John only slower by having heard her way before Kotomi.

Truth was, he didn't know if his story would have a happy ending. He expected for so long to remain on his duty and to die fighting.]

You won't get it you don't work on it.

[But to simply not work on it, fight as if you had already been defeated? Even if he hadn't met Yuuko or remembered Cortana and Lasky's requests, it's something no Spartan could abide.]



[For her part, the girl with pigtails looks from behind John, puzzled by the question about happy endings. Remembering Tomoya's drilled lessons on befriending and introductions, she puts both hands in front of herself and makes a deep bow.]

Hello, I am pleased to meet you. My name is Kotomi Ichinose, a senior in Class A in Hikarizawa High School. My hobby is reading books. I would be happy if you would become my friend.

[Ami outright stares at Kotomi for a moment. Is this girl even serious? Should she even bother answering her?]

I have no intention of becoming your friend. I've never even laid eyes on you before now.

[She has a way of flat absoluteness about that, in her tone. She doesn't deal well with that sort of sudden leap to intimacy; she never has, and in recent years it's only become worse.

As she turns to John, she also seems to have decided this is all that needs to be said on the topic of friendship at all.]

I've worked and I've fought.

[violinsnbobbles]

[Said brusque response was probably worse than not answering at all. She begins to tear up as she hides behind John.]

Is she a bully? Is she a bully...?

[Not much material for a heroine beside her smarts, the mun admits. Then again, Moemura didn't look like much at first, either. Before she turned into Hommando.]




[John resists the temptation to answer with a blunt yes as Kotomi hides behind him. He turns to her. So much for a happy ending.]

Fighting's not all to it.

[Another of Yuuko's lessons, resounded by Cortana and Lasky on their safari to Earth. No utopia crafted with swords ever lasts. Less so if lacking empathy.]

[Let the girl think she's a bully. She probably is. The one Ami answers is John again.]

Don't start making that sort of speech.

[John recognizes when will talking be useless, even with the times he's spoken with Ami. Without a word, he directs his sight back to the bar.

He puts a hand over Kotomi's shoulder, nudging her to focus back on her drink. The girl takes one last look at Ami before shuffling back to her seat.]

[Ami's eyes linger on Kotomi a moment despite herself. She recognizes that John seems protective of the girl. It gives her a sour feeling.

Instead of stirring up more trouble, however, she simply takes a seat at the bar - beside John.]

[John stays silent, looking down. There was a reason he believed it, or wanted to believe in it, and try not to think it was in vain after the loss of Cortana. Kotomi stood just as silent, until confesses his reasons to think of that.]

I miss home.

[He comes to think, not even his canonical timeline would allow him to have that. Kotomi stays silent, not wanting to think of getting the same feeling if she's ever set into a game or storyline.]

[In some ways, she's fortunate: she still has the planet she grew up on this time, she still has her castle, she still has places to go - even if she isn't entirely sure anymore which is home. John's admission makes her think of it, and she softens towards him, but she still has a warning.]

Even if you go back, you won't find it the same.

[His eyes close. It was a lesson that stung deeply.]

Nor yourself.

[Sometimes by what changed at home. Others, by what changed you.]




[Kotomi's head slowly turns as both the girl and John soften to eachother, in part surprised and amazed by the relationship. Seemingly capable of having as much anger, but just as well to regard eachother as close friends. They had gone through similar things. This reminds her of Kyou's first reaction, and Ami's brusque words ring true. They bonded not through dates, but through fire and fury.

She mutters something in a low tone to herself. John slowly turns to the small girl as he identifies French battlefields from Earth's first World War.]

"At first Krebs, who had been at Belleau Wood, Soissons, the Champagne, St. Mihiel and in the Argonne did not want to talk about the war at all. Later he felt the need to talk but no one wanted to hear about it. His town had heard too many atrocity stories to be thrilled by actualities."

[She finds herself quoting Soldier's Home by Ernest Hemingway. A short story that had been hard to read for her, something that usually never happened with her lightning-fast reading.

More because of the ending in which she fell to the same emotions of anger she regretted long ago towards her parents, and now even more by this. She holds her tea, silent.]

[She recognized the quote, and Ami nodded, giving Kotomi a more interested look this time. The girl was well-read.]

That's how it is.

[She'd changed - willingly, arrogantly, slowly, painfully, and sometimes even without noticing it until something struck her and she found herself thinking: years ago, a year ago, months ago, I never would have done that or said that. I would have done this instead.

She was, after all, Water.]

(Twilight drinks from her mug as she listens to the girl speak. She remembers Kotomi from Mayfield. Such a sweet girl and a true hero until the very end...this may not exactly be her, but Kotomi will always be Kotomi, just as Twilight will always be Twilight.)

You have a point there. Sometimes even those characters can help guide the story along...and sometimes, they can even guide other characters down their development paths.



(Kreutzer nodded in agreement.)

That's one way of looking at it, I suppose. I believe my Reaper's Game counterpart would be more up to that task than I am, but it's still applicable here.

(She raised her glass towards the armored soldier.)

Nearly two years in Mayfield, three months back in Equestria. I'm not sure how lucky I should count myself for a jamjar being based on home, but I'll take it for what it is.
