[At this point in his admittedly unorthodox life, Kaneki had slowly begun to grow accustomed to abnormality. His everyday life was as abnormal as you could get, but waking up in a strange house that was not Anteiku was a bit more than he could take right now.
But that was a few days ago, and he's had a chance to speak to a few residents- and nonresidents like himself, apparently- to try and piece together what on earth was going on. Naturally, he was left with more questions than answers.
His travels have gotten him to a town called Goldenrod, incidentally one of the most populated around. He's heard a lot about it, but seeing it spread out before him just shows him how big it really is. Riding on his shoulder is a smaller than average Zangoose, who Kaneki discovered rather quickly had some overly protective tendencies in regards to his trainer.
He stops at a corner just past the Pokemon Center, rubbing the back of his neck as he tries to decide where to head next. Wasn't there a department store here somewhere? Not that he had much to spend, or really felt like he needed anything in the first place. But, lo and behold, he spots a familiar figure crossing the sidewalk just as he starts to walk up, surprising him into stopping short. Their interactions thus far might have been brief, but Kaneki would have to be blind not to be able to recognize who that was.]
