[Things had been slow lately at the Mystery Shack, as strange as it sounds. Not many tourists had been coming by, so without anyone to Swindle Grunkle Stan hadn't shown himself much for the past few days. If anyone needed him he'd be watching T.V., he said. He wasn't lying.
Normally Dipper and Mabel would have found something to do with their time by now, but after the first couple of days they'd really begun to run out of things to do. Mabel had gotten to where she wanted to try teaching Waddles tricks, and as much fun as he was sure that would be, Dipper decided to bow out and find something else to keep him occupied. Soos was off visiting family, and Wendy had been on a week long camping trip with her own...
What was he to do?
Well, explore the forests neighboring the shack, of course. Not the safest idea in the world, but surely if he stuck close to home he could just run inside if something jumped out and tried to attack him. ..Hypothetically. Running would be his only option; as if fighting was EVER a viable option for Dipper Pines.
So now he weaves his way through the massive trees, thumbing through his book to see if there was anything interesting he could look for that wouldn't try to eat him.
Well, no luck so far.]
